Roanoke Police say the woman leaped from the Walnut Avenue bridge just after 10 o-clock.
Firefighters managed to find her and get her out of the water a few minutes after they arrived.
The woman was taken to the hospital.
No word yet on her condition.

The company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers signed a tentative agreement late yesterday afternoon.
The new contract includes a 15- percent raise over the next five years as well as better early retirement and health care benefits.
The 37-hundred striking workers will return to their jobs over the next few days.
They'll also have to ratify the contract.
