After more than 72 hours, most rescue crews are suspending ground searches ... but investigators are hard-at-work pursuing tips nationwide in the disappearance of 9-year-old Jennifer Renee Short.
The Henry County girl has not been seen since her parents were found dead in their Oak Level home nearly three days ago.

Police are investigating the shooting death of a Roanoke County woman this weekend...

The victim has been identified as Beverly Haygood of the 600- block of Tyler Road.
Police say she was found shot to death in her home last night.
Haygood's body was taken to the medical examiner for an autopsy.
Police have not released any other information.

A former employee of Washington and Lee University is accused of embezzling.
Dee Miriello served as a purchasing agent for the dining hall and is accused of keeping rebates from food vendors.
Her case is related to that of the former "chief cook" who pleaded guilty to embezzlement in March.
Officials say he kept about 70- thousand dollars in rebates.
Miriello's husband, Frank, is Washington and Lee's football coach, but is NOT suspected of knowing anything about the matter.
Dee Miriello is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

An accident in Botetourt County sends one man to the hospital...

State Police say that around 6 o-clock this morning a man was driving his car on Route 220 South in Botetourt County when he veered off the right side of the road.
The car then struck two to three apple trees at the Layman Brothers Orchards.
He was trapped in his car and was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital by Lifeguard Ten.
Police say that they believe the man fell asleep behind the wheel.
Authorities are still on the scene investigating.

A Roanoke Sheriff's Deputy is out on bail awaiting his arraignment tomorrow morning.
Deputy Brian P. Haston was arrested yesterday after an apparent argument with his girlfriend turned violent.
Haston is charged with abduction and throwing a missile at an occupied building.
The deputy has been with the Sheriff's office since January of 1996.
He is now on administrative leave WITH pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
He was released on 10-Thousand dollars bond yesterday afternoon.

More than two-million pilgrims filled the streets of Krakow to hear the pontiff deliver today's mass.
It's the largest outdoor mass ever in Poland.
People traveled from all parts of the country and many waited up all night.
They began singing as the pope circled the crowd in his popemobile.
The 82-year-old will visit the graves of his parents and brother and say prayers at a cathedral where he celebrated his first Mass as a priest in 1946.
