Meanwhile another case of a child abduction.
This time near Salt Lake City.
A man reportedly broke into the home at 1:30 this morning- took an 11 year old girl- raped her in her backyard and beat her-
Neighbors heard moaning and called police- authorities are questioning a man- who police say knows the girl's father.
Police are also trying to figure out if there is any connection between today's incident and the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart.
As for all of the recent media coverage of kidnappings around the nation- Smart's father said this.

The death of a 52-year old Roanoke County woman is now being investigated as a homicide.

Beverly Haygood had been found shot to death in her home Friday night. She and a co-worker had planned to get together to watch television that evening. When Haygood didn't show up, the other woman went looking for her. Police say there was no signs of forced entry, that whomever committed the crime went in through an open door. Co-workers, friends and neighbors all described Haygood as extremely well- liked.

Some students in Bland County and Martinsville will be going home early tomorrow because of the heat. Officials say classrooms without air conditioning can reach temperatures of over 90 degrees. In Martinsville- Patrick Henry and Druid Hills Elementary will close tomorrow at 12:30. And schools in Bland County will close at one p.m. for the rest of the week.

A giant Russian military helicopter has crashed in Chechnya- it appears that more than 80 soldiers were killed.

There seems to be a question of whether this chopper was shot down or crashed from mechanical failure.
Chechen Rebels said they shot down the MI-26 transporter but a top defense ministry spokesman blamed engine failure.

The Aircraft had been flying to Chechnya from a neighboring Russian Republic when it came down.
A Russian officials says according to the flight manifest, 127 passengers and five crew were on board.

Two senior Palestinian officials say Abu Nidal was found dead of gunshot wounds a few days ago in Baghdad.
They said they believed he had committed suicide -- but they did not explain how he could have suffered multiple wounds.
A newspaper close to the Palestinian Authority reported that the terrorist leader was found shot in the head in his apartment.
