Hours have turned into days and still no sign of nine- year- old Jennifer Short. The fourth grader has been missing since Thursday morning, when the bodies of her parents were found in the family's Henry County home.

Martinsville Sheriff Steve Draper's cruiser hydroplaned and flipped over in the southbound lanes of Route 2-20 just before 2:30 yesterday afternoon.
He was not seriously injured, but was treated by emergency personel.
At the time of the accident--- he was helping with the search for Jennifer Short by patrolling the area.

Local, state and federal authorities are trying to find the fourth grader, who disappeared last week when her parents were shot and killed in Henry County.
Though the nationwide Amber Alert has generated calls from across the country, solid leads remain in short supply.

The couple was cleaning up gasoline that had spilled in their basement when the pilot light from the water heater ignited the gas.
Larry teaches at Glenvar Middle School.
Ryan Shelor is one of his students who came up with the idea for the fundraiser as a way to help the family with medical expenses.
