((David Westerfield shook silently inside the courtroom, but outside it was anything but quiet as the jury delivered its verdict. Guilty. Yeah! Alright! Brenda Van damme and her family hustled out of the courthouse without saying a word, after the jury convicted Westerfield on all charges. The six men and six women deliberated for nearly two weeks, and determined that Westerfield kidnapped and killed 7-year old Danielle van damme. Were these, and are these, your verdicts as read? Yes, yes, yes. Danielles father put her to bed February 1st, and never saw her again. The defense argued there was no physical evidence linking Westerfield to the familys home. And they criticized Danielles parents, saying they smoked dope and invited sex partners home on the night their daughter disappeared.
(DUSEK)

Danielles blood is on that jacket. Prosecutors said Westerfields jacket was only part of the DNA evidence. Detectives found Danielles fingerprints and hair on Westerfields bed and in between his sheets. And in an emotional closing argument, Jeff Dusek asked the jury to imagine if Danielle herself could somehow let them know who killed her. JEFF DUSEK/PROSECUTOR: Ive already told you, with my hair and where you found it. Orange fiber on my clothes and where you found it. And with my fingerprints. And Ive told you with my blood. CHRIS LAWRENCE/CBS NEWS: Westerfield will go back to jail until next Wednesday, when the penalty phase will decide whether he dies for these crimes. Chris Lawrence CBS News Los Angeles.))
