Henry County Sheriff Frank Cassell says that they are looking closely at several people-- some locally who may have known the family or worked with Michael Short. He and his alleged accomplice went into the Stop -In store on Hershberger Road, guns drawn, wearing masks on their faces. Krug shot Stephen Rivera in the shoulder, while the other gunman grabbed Joyce Parish by the hair, trying unsuccessfully to get her to open the cash register.

A man who spent 15 years in a Virginia prison for rape has been cleared by D-N-A evidence.
He says he's not bitter.
Marvin Anderson saw his conviction wiped away yesterday by Governor Warner.
Anderson said he doesn't blame the woman who was raped -- she just made a mistake.
Another man now faces trial in her attack.

Supporters of a tobacco tax increase released a poll yesterday that finds a majority of Virginians favor raising the tax.
That is- IF it helps the state meet its "one and a half billion" dollar shortfall.
Supporters of a 60-cent- a-pack increase say it would raise 367- million dollars a year.
Governor Mark Warner has said he doesn't support raising the tobacco tax, but that everything is still on the table.
Some lawmakers have ruled out ANY tax increases.
Supporters of a higher cigarette tax say that's a mistake.

Some federal money is helping Montgomery County with their ongoing water troubles...

The county will get a two-million dollar grant from the U-S Department of Agriculture, to help improve the Prices Fork water system.
For over a year now, residents have depended on one well for their water supply, after the other was contaminated.


The project is expected to begin early this Fall.
Pulaski County, Giles County and the town of Dublin will also receieve funding toward improvment projects.
