A Buchanan man is dead after attempting to cross the James River near Arcadia. Officials say 32-year- old James Luther Begley was wading across the river around 7:30 last night with a group of friends. When he and another man decided to return to their campsite, the water was deeper than they expected.. and they had to swim. Begley reportedly called to his friend that he was getting tired and then went under twice before disappearing. Begley's body was found early this morning by the Rockbridge County Sheriff's Department Dive Team. Authorities do not suspect foul play.

Still, Cassell's not giving up hope of finding Jennifer.

Forest service personnel and environmental organizations are debating the future of the region's national forest lands.

Thunder, lightning and torrential rain downed trees and turned streets into rivers in a matter of minutes.
In some places, the water rose faster than drivers could move their cars.
One man and his daughter found themselves in water up to their windows in downtown Philadelphia.
And numerous University of Pennsylvania students were stranded by the floods.
The floods damaged parts of downtown Philadelphia and its suburbs.

The largest construction project on the historic campus of Washington and Lee University in years is moving right along. It's a project that had designers trying to craft a new building to look consistent with ones from the 18-hundreds, but remaining state-of -the-art. Richard Lesko has more.

A bus plunges more than 200 yards ... leaving 14 people dead in Colombia.

Eyewitnesses said the bus was traveling too fast on a particularly treacherous stretch of road.

South African police used tear gas and stun guns to disperse a demonstration by anti-globalization protesters.
Nearly 60-thousand delegates and 100 world leaders are expected Monday in Johannesburg for the Earth Summit. The summit is meant to find ways to reduce poverty and hunger.
Protesters are rallying to get leaders to do more to protect the environment.
Brazil's president is expected to announce a program that would protect 200-thousand square miles of Amazon rainforest.

(( The 11 thousand one seat concrete beast is ready to rear it's head. And Tech fans who will be getting their first glimpse of the facility will be in for a pleasant surprise. Hokie Stone - the construction trademark on campus, is featured prominently in the addition. It's something that wasn't in the wasn't in the original plans for the stadium, but a change that is definitely for the better. ((TOM GABBARD:)) There are plenty of concession and rest room areas throughout the addition. The Media also has been provided for with a workroom complete with phone and e-net jacks. And the brand new visitors' lockeroom located underneath the stands is as fine a facility as their is in the nation.
