The pastor of the historic St. Andrews Catholic Church in Roanoke is facing allegations of sexual misconduct.
The Catholic Diocese of Richmond says today that the Reverend Steven R. Rule, known to many as Randy, is on administrative leave due to the allegations.

Kim ... as of late yesterday Father Rule was officially placed on leave. Officials say the diocese is handling the claim according to revised regulations. New guidelines have been in place since cases of sexual abuse involving clergy have emerged across the country. A press release from the Diocese of Richmond says the alleged incident involving Father Rule took place when the accuser - - who is now an adult - - was a minor. Father Rule will remain on leave while the allegations are evaluated. The claim will be handed over to a new Review Board when it convenes on Labor Day. The new Sexual Abuse Review Board was named last week. It replaces a panel that had five of its lay members resign in protest over the handling of abuse complaints against a Henrico County priest. The Board is expected to respond to the allegations ... But officials say Bishop Sullivan is the final judge in this internal review process. A press conference on this developing story is scheduled for two-pm in Richmond...
