A pair of military jets escorted a U-S Airways plane to Baltimore- Washington International Airport today- after an apparent mis-communication.

A U-S fighter jet scrambled and escorted the flight...

Part of former vice president Al Gore's office has been quarantined after a suspicious powder spilled from an envelope that was opened there today.
A spokesman for the former vice president says the letter was received in Nashville yesterday, and was opened today by an office manager.
A hazardous materials team is on the scene.
The spokesman says the envelope was postmarked from Tennessee.
It apparently came from an inmate in the state's correction system.

The Virginia Supreme Court has a new chief justice and he's already making history.

Justice Leroy Hassell (hass-SELL) Senior was elected the state's first black chief justice today.
Hassell, will succeed Chief Justice Harry Carrico who is retiring this winter.
The election also marks the first time the justices have selected a chief justice by popular vote rather than by seniority.
Hassell will serve as head of the seven-member court for a four-year term.
