Virginia's un- employment rate decreased slightly for July. The Virginia Employment Commission reports that the rate dropped from four-point-three percent in June to four-point-one percent in July. The V-E-C says that the reason is that many high school students found work in a strong summer job market, or stopped looking. This is the highest jobless rate for the month of July since 1997.
But Virginia's un- employment level was below the national rate for the month, six percent.
