[SUPER=03-Blacksburg/Sunday Morning; ]

More than a dozen people were arrested after a night of partying got out of control in downtown Blacksburg. The arrests were made as nearly a hundred police officers worked to clear Main Street and College Avenue. That's where thousands of Virginia Tech and L-S-U fans gathered-- chanting and celebrating in anticipation of Sunday afternoon's match- up on the gridiron. The partying began around nine thirty Saturday night... Some six hours later-- downtown Blacksburg was finally clear. Police say they called in reinforcements out of concern the celebrating would turn violent.

The ticket on your windshield for holding onto that perfect parking spot in downtown Roanoke will soon cost you more.

[VO-NAT - :24+]
[SUPER=03-Roanoke;]

Among other increases, an overtime parking violation will now cost 15 dollars, and blocking a fire hydrant will now draw a 38 dollar fine. Downtown business owners have commented that parking violators were hurting their business because customers could not find parking spots. The Roanoke Police Department conducted a survey of 10 Virginia cities, and found that the city's parking ticket fines were low, and may have contributed to parking violations.
