Investigators took the unusual step today of exhuming the body of Michael Short.

The Henry County man and his wife were found shot to death in their Oak Level home last month.
Their nine-year old daughter was also taken from the house and remains missing.
This morning-- officials removed Short's body from Henry Memorial Park to gather additional forensic evidence.
His body was then taken to the medical examiners office in Roanoke.
Also today-- helicopters searched the Northern area of Henry County and the southern tip of Franklin County... again looking for additional evidence.

DEQ officials say the job losses were not unexpected in light of the state's one-and a half billion dollar shortfall.

A small fire at a Franklin County elementary school today is prompting a schedule change.
Because of smoke damage at Henry Elementary-- students will be bused to another location tomorrow.
Officials say "pre-k through second grade" students will be transported from Henry elementary to Sontag.. while third through fifth grade students will be bused to Ferrum Elementary.
At the end of the day-- the students will then be bused back to Henry elementary.
