The latest incident was an apparent assassination attempt on Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
Authorities say security guard fired at Karzai's car as it left the governor's mansion in Kandahar.
The governor was injured, and three people were killed.
Karzai, meanwhile, survived the incident.
Earlier today in Kabul, a huge car bomb exploded near a crowded market.
As many as 22- people were killed.

Police safely detonated a huge bomb that was driven into Northern Israel from the West Bank.
The 13- hundred- pound devide containing fuel and metal fragments was found inside a van.
Authorities are still searching for the driver, who abandoned the vehicle during a chase.
Israel's foreign minister says "it's a miracle" the bomb was safely detonated, because it had the potential of killing many people.

A new lawsuit claims Iraq has sponsored terrorists for a decade to avenge its defeat in the Gulf War.
The suit was filed in New York, on behalf of 14- hundred September eleventh victims and their families.
It seeks more than a trillion dollars in damages.
The suit alleges that Iraqi officials knew in advance that Osama bin Laden was targeting New York City and the Pentagon.

A man from Blacksburg is under arrest in Washington State. Mikhail Sharov is being held on trespassing charges, but police say they found a disturbing stash in a bunker-- diagrams of power plants and potentially explosive materials.

Sharov is in jail on trespassing in Aberdeen. He is expected to be sentenced sometime today. As far as the books, the expensive tools and equipment police found, Sharov told them they could keep it because he wants nothing to do with it.

That's when he was seen leaving Blacksburg for Fort Bragg North Carolina.
He never arrived for military duty and was listed as AWOL.

Authorities say the Roanoke man who shot and killed Daryll Wayne Waller will not face charges in the incident.

Police say 62-year old Paul McCoy admitted shooting a man who barged into his Aspen Street home on May 17th.
Police say Waller threatened McCoy and a woman who was living inside McCoy's house.

McCoy shot Waller once in the stomach... he later died.
Prosecutors believe McCoy acted on the belief that he and the woman were in immediate danger and that criminal charges are not justified.

A Senate committee in Canada is recommending the government legalize the use of marijuana among adults.

It also recommends that criminal records for possession of pot be erased.

The Roanoke Express held a Memorial Prayer service last night for Terrence Tootoo, the player who died last week.
