SOT: Bush: If you want to keep the peace, you must have authorization to

TRACK: MR. BUSHS PROPOSAL LAYS OUT SADDAMS REPEATED VIOLATIONS OF CURRENT U-N RESOLUTIONS THAT REQUIRES IRAQ TO DESTROY ALL WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. TO BEEF UP HIS ARGUMENT, THE PRESIDENT IS DISPATCHING SECRETARY OF STATE COLIN POWELL AND SECRETARY OF DEFENSE DONALD RUMSFELD TO CAPITOL HILL TODAY.

SOT: Bush: Ive asked for Congress support to enable the administration

to keep peace I look forward to constructive debate in Congress.

Its the second attack in as many days, and it proves what Israels police chief was telling his people: just because there havent been any attacks lately, doesnt mean theyre not going to keep trying.

(SOT Gil Kleiman, Israeli Police spokesman)

From our initial investigation, weve seen a bomb like weve seen many times before: A combination of explosives and shrapnel, which was added to the bomb in order to increase the amount of affect in killing, as a result of the explosion we have 40 wounded, five people dead, five innocent victims dead, and of course, the body of the suicide bomber.
The media here are reporting that two different Palestinian militant groups have claimed responsibility.
Israel had been bomb-free for more than a month people had started to hope for better times.

Governor Warner is calling on the federal government to declare seven more drought-stricken southwest Virginia counties federal disaster areas.
Bedford, Bland, Floyd, Franklin, Henry, Montgomery, and Wythe Counties are named in the request, along with seven other Virginia counties.
Federal disaster declarations make farmers eligible for low-interest loans and other federal aid.
A bill now before Congress would provide up to 6-billion dollars in emergency funding to drought-stricken farms.

The Virginia High School League's Executive Committee met yesterday in Charlottesville.
And the main item on the agenda was what to do with the Blue Ridge District - make it an eleven- team district for next year, or split it into TWO divisions. Several schools, including Salem, Pulaski and Fleming were opposed to a split. The VHSL voted to split the league into one five- team division and another six- team division.
(----------------)

[GO TO PINNACLE BLUE RIDGE NORTH] The new Blue Ridge North will feature - Alleghany, Lord Botetourt, Northside, William Byrd and William Fleming.
Those five will compete in the Northern tier.
(---------------)

[GO TO PINNACLE BLUE RIDGE SOUTH] The Blue Ridge south will align Blacksburg, Cave Spring, Christiansburg, Hidden Valley, Pulaski County and Salem. The new alignment cuts down on travel for teams like Alleghany, which has a pretty considerable trip every time it heads to the New River Valley.
