The photos were released in hopes of jarring someone's memory of her.

Yesterday, investigators told the Martinsville Bulletin that the photos have drawn new leads.
They hope in particular that someone will remember when a man apparently harassed Mary Short where she worked .. back when these photos were taken.

The summer string of gunfire and gang incidents in Lynchburg appears to have quieted down lately .. and many people in the city hope to keep it that way.
They are conducting a community forum tonight at E.C. Glass High School .. one that will bring together public officials, church leaders, and the public .. in efforts to find ways to deal with the problems and at least lessen the violence.
The forum begins at 7 PM.

Israel says it wants terrorists that are holed up inside.

Duke Energy wants to build a 95-mile natural gas pipeline called the Patriot Extension.
The line would begin in Wythe County and end in Rockingham County North Carolina.
A Duke spokesperson says the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has indicated it may issue its final environmental impact statement by the end of the month.
The commission could then give its final approval to the pipeline at its next meeting scheduled for October 9th.

Fire and insurance investigators are expected to visit the site of a destructive barn fire later today .. in hopes of officially determining the cause.

The fire destroyed two storage barns near Troutville in Botetourt County on Saturday night.
The full extent of the damage became more visible yesterday.
Fire officials say among the items destroyed were antique Army vehicles and a rare Harley-Davidson snowmobile.

Four departments were called out but were ordered to stand back when officials learned there were chemicals and acetylene tanks stored in the barn.
The last volunteers left around three AM.
