A "head-on" collision in Bedford County tonight sent three people to the hospital.

It happened on Route 43 north of Route 682 just after 7:30.
The accident involved a Ford Focus and a Mitsubishi Mirage.
Firefighters had to cut through a door to get a mother and her child out.
They, along with the driver of the other car, were all taken to Bedford Hospital.
No word on their conditions or whether charges will be filed.

Giles County Sheriff Larry Falls was convicted today of a misdemeanor... after a dispute earlier this year with his wife.
A judge sentenced the lawman to 30-days in jail for assault and battery...but then suspended that sentence.

Falls was arrested in July after his sister-in-law, Margie Dowdy, told police he forced his way into her home, looking for his wife Margaret.
The two had been separated for about a month.

That's when the Virginia Board for Professional and Occupational Regulation will hold a public hearing to discuss whether skating rinks should have helmets available for skaters.
The death of a five year old at a Newport News roller skating rink prompted the Roller Skating Safety Act.
Under the proposed legislation, skating rinks would need to have helmets available but it would not require skaters to actually wear them.

Authorities in Nebraska say a distraught state trooper has killed himself one day after a bank robbery that left five people dead.

Zookeepers figured it out when they noticed Hoy wasn't interested in his food.
Removing the tooth was no easy task though- Vets put Hoy under anesthesia and operated on the tooth-
