It came in as a missing person's case.
Roanoke County Police responded just after noon to Shenandoah Homes off of Williamson Road.
A few hours later, officers found an eighty eight year old woman dead inside the retirement home. [***NEWS 7 @ 11 MONITOR GRAPHIC***]

Other than that, police are remaining tight lipped but they say there are several circumstances that lead them to treat this death suspiciously.

After the initial call of a missing person, police did a room to room search in Shenandoah Homes.
Around 3:30 this afternoon, they found 88 year old Helen O'Dell Cadd dead in a room on the third floor.
Investigators say there were no visible signs of trauma so they've called in the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

We do know the victim, Helen O'Dell Cadd, had been a resident at Shenandoah Homes for thirteen years.
Police say there is a possibility she could have died from natural causes but she wasn't known to be sick.

On other note, police did arrest a man today at Shenandoah Homes on a parole violation out of Chespeake. Police would not say whether that arrest is related to this case. Shannon.

Investigators in Virginia and North Carolina conducted more interviews today, but there were no new searches as authorities waited for DNA test results in the Jennifer Short case.

Nester would not comment on reports that investigators have searched property just a few miles from the site where the remains of a young girl were discovered last week.
Neighbors say officers have visited the property in recent days, and asked about the man who lived there. He left abruptly soon after Michael and Mary Short were murdered and Jennifer Short disappeared.

That's what sources say John Walker Lindh and other al-Qaida and Taliban prisoners are telling investigators.

The Reverend Jerry Falwell is standing behind his statement that the founder of Islam was a quote- "terrorist.''
Falwell made the comment about Mohammad during an interview with "60 Minutes'' scheduled to air Sunday.
C-B-S released a partial transcript today.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Falwell says he was asked directly if he thought Mohammad was a terrorist, and that he tried to answer honestly.
Falwell says it's not something he would ever put in a sermon or a book.
He says he's often said that most Muslims abhor terrorism, and want peace and tranquility for their families.
A spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relation says anyone is free to be a bigot.

A Korean-American postal employee from Illinois is under arrest for allegedly opening fire in front of United Nations headquarters in New York.

Authorities say he emptied a 7-shot pistol and threw leaflets on the ground before being tackled by U-S Secret Service agents. There were no injuries, but shots hit at least two upper floors of the building. Several shots narrowly missed U-N employees inside the Secretariat building. The leaflets were handwritten in English and denounced ``starvation and dictatorial suppression'' in North Korea.

Virginia Blood Services has lifted a quarantine that it imposed on a portion of its blood supply after a surgery patient died at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
At least one other patient experienced a mild fever after a transfusion.
The blood bank now says its investigation shows there is NO evidence of any contamination in the blood supply.
The service says the problem is an isolated incident and that it may never know the cause.
Virginia Blood Services supplies blood for hospitals in Lexington, Staunton, Waynesboro, Charlottesville and Farmville.

Two Ohio teenagers are in custody tonight after leading authorities on a high- speed chase.

The ordeal was caught on tape by the camera in a state trooper's cruiser. The chase lasted ten minutes while the suspects reached speeds of 120- miles- per- hour. It ended when the Mercury the two boys were riding in crashed into two other vehicles. No one was injured in the chase.

Virginia Tech police say what appears to be a prank... has two students in jail.

Freshmen Corey Cameron and Kyle Pruett were arrested around one-o-clock this morning...

after a witness told police he saw them place a homemade bomb inside a newspaper box.
Police later recovered three more bombs around campus... after students reported they heard a loud boom.
Officers say the bombs were made out of plastic bottles, some type of liquid substance and aluminum foil.
Both men are charged with four counts of manufacturing an explosive device.

U-S Airways is replacing its jet service to Charlotte, North Carolina with Dash-8 Turboprop flights. They will increase the number from five to seven each weekday. Airport officials say they're disappointed but that it's a cost effective move for the airline .... part of a restructuring plan since filing for bankruptcy in August. The number of seats flying to Charlotte remains the same but officials say regional jet service has a better reputation.

The Lady Knights then in transition. Kaitlin Long slings the long heave to Megan Downey who lays in the chippie and Cave Spring was back on top.
Maria Migliarese comes right back, knocking down a turnaround jumper for Hidden Valley.
With time winding down, Kaitlin Long follows up the miss with the putback plus the foul. That tied the game at 45 with 3 and a half seconds left. Long then knocks in the free throw and that would be the

National signing day for high school football players isn't until February, but Heritage offensive lineman L.A. Watson has already decided to attend East Carolina next season.

Watson verbally committed to the Pirates this afternoon. At 6-5, 280 pounds, he bench presses 415 pounds and runs a 5-oh 40. Watson is a senior playing his first full season of varsity football. Several factors went into his decision to play at East Carolina.
