It was just days ago-- skeletal remains discovered in North Carolina were determined to be those of Jennifer Short. One can only imagine what Jennifer Short's family is going through right now.
We got an idea Sunday afternoon when some of her relatives visited a memorial at the Short family home.

Counselors have been on hand since the first day of school and officials say many students have taken advantage of that.
Since Jennifer disappeared, the school has kept her desk empty hoping Jennifer would return.

Local investigators will likely travel to Canada this week as part of the Short family investigation. Authorities from Virginia and North Carolina say they'll meet tomorrow to discuss plans to interview a man they call a "possible" witness.

Bowman left North Carolina on August 16th -- the day after the Shorts were discovered dead in their home. Investigators searched his property after his landlord told them Bowman threatened to kill a mobile home mover in Virginia. He left behind a map marked with the location of the Shorts' home.

A single-car accident killed a Huddleston man last night.
It happened just before 11 on Route 626 in Bedford County.
State police say 66-year-old Warren Taylor ran off the side of the road, overcorrected and went down an embankment before his car caught fire.
Police say Taylor died at the scene.

France will be sending investigators to Yemen, where a fire caused an explosion aboard a French oil tanker. Yemeni officials say the fire was an accident cause by an oil leak.

But the ship's owner says it was a "deliberate act". The company says the captain saw a small boat pull up toward the tanker before the explosion. The tanker was carrying nearly 400- thousand barrels of oil. French officials say they're NOT aware of any deaths on board.

Authorities say a hospital patient took a joyride in an ambulance yesterday.
That's when a Montvale rescue squad crew noticed its ambulance was missing, after dropping a patient off at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Bedford County deputies say ANOTHER patient who had been discharged took it for a spin -- even turning on the lights and siren.
He got all the way to Franklin County before deputies stopped him.
Charges -- and the patient's name -- are pending from Roanoke City Police.

The company has since begun site preparation work on a multi-million dollar production facility. Wytheville is located roughly between the two facilities-- and Pepsi has yet to confirm whether the company will consolidate its other two plants. A spokeswoman says the company may make an announcement on consolidation by the end of the month.

To the track where Dale Earnhardt, Junior won for the third straight time at Talladega today. The only other driver to accomplish the feat was Buddy Baker.

The big wreck never came today although before the race even started, Mark Martin and Jimmie Johnson got together after the steering column locked up on Martin's car during the pace lap. He clipped the 48 car and both had to pit for repairs.
Blocking is a big part of restrictor plate racing but the caution flag didn't come out once today. Only the third time that's ever happened at Talladega.
Jeff Gordon's title hopes took another big hit this afternoon when he blew an engine at lap 126. He finished 42nd.

There was no such trouble for Dale Earnhardt, Junior who led the final 38 laps on the way to his third straight Talladega win and the Winston No-Bull Million. Tony Stewart held on for 2nd and took the points lead by 72 over Martin.
