The latest victim is a 53 year old man- who was pumping gas when he was gunned dwon.
Seven people in all have been killed in just over one week- police say the shootings all appear related to the sniper.
The hunt is now on for a vehicle that may have been seen leaving the gas station last night-
In the D-C area people there are more fearful than ever.

Authorities say there is NO evidence that the shooter or shooters might be headed this way, but they are being cautious just in case. Sergeant (VEEL) Viohl says a tip from the public about the shootings would probably provide the best information police need to solve the case.

A happy ending to a situation this morning in Monroe County, West Virginia... where two sewer workers were trapped inside a hole.

It happened around ten on Route-219--about a mile and a half outside of Peterstown.
The two men were laying down a sewer line at a construction site there, when the dirt collapsed...t rapping them about five feet underneath the ground.
Rescue workers were able to save the first man, Will Thomas, around 12-30--and the second man, Leroy Ballard, about an hour later.

About 50-people took part in the rescue.
Both men were taken to a hospital in Bluefield and then airlifted to Roanoke.
No word yet on the condition of the men, but, officials say it looks as if they will be okay.

A bridge collapsed near Utica, New York today - killing a construction worker and injuring nine more.

Officials say the workers were hurt when a pedestrian bridge that was under construction fell on them. The workers had been pouring concrete when the 150-foot long bridge collapsed. One of the injured underwent surgery while the others are being treated for broken bones, cuts and scrapes.

Investigators headed to Canada this morning to interview a North Carolina man described as a possible witness in the slayings of Jennifer Short and her parents.

Two investigators from Henry County and two from Rockingham County, North Carolina made the 16-hour trip from Raleigh, North Carolina, to Yellowknife, Canada.

They'll interview Garrison Bowman, who's being held there on an immigration violation.
Bowman's landlord told investigators he threatened to kill a Virginia mobile home mover after a bad business deal.

House Republicans had some strong words today for Governor Mark Warner and his handling of the state's budget crisis.

Republicans accused Warner of moving too slowly in announcing cuts to state agencies.
Salem Delegate Morgan Griffith says Warner's lack of leadership on the budget is making the situation worse.
Griffith challenged the governor to come forward with a comprehensive plan to cover the state's two billion dollar shortfall.
