He was one of the three men working underground at this construction site...when the dirt collapsed. Miller was able to get away, but, his two buddies, Will Thomas and Leroy Ballard weren't as lucky.

Using a machine to suck-up the dirt, rescue workers were able to pull Thomas out first, and then Ballard about an hour later. Still not knowing the condition of either men, their family and friends were just happy to see them out alive.

Both men were taken to a hospital in Bluefield and then airlifted to Roanoke.
No word yet on either's condition, but, officials say it looks like they will be okay.

Investigators are on the way to Canada to interview a man described as a possible witness in the slayings of Jennifer Short and her parents.

Four investigators left Raleigh, North Carolina, this morning on a 16 hour flight to Yellowknife, Canada.

They plan to question Garrison Bowman, who's being held there on an immigration violation. He awaits a deportation hearing tomorrow morning.
His landlord told investigators Bowman had threatened to kill a Virginia mobile home mover after a business deal went sour.
But investigators have yet to turn up any records from Michael Short OR Bowman that reflect any business dealings between the two.
Bowman's friends say he could NOT be responsible.

Virginia State Police are briefed about what type of vehicle to look for. They say there is no evidence the shooter or shooters may be heading this way, but they are keeping an eye out just in case. American Electric Power says it's reducing this year's earnings forecast because of weakness in the economy and wholesale energy markets.
The announcement came a day after A-E-P fired five employees for providing inaccurate price information indexes compiled and published by trade publications.
News of the firings caused A-E-P's stock to fall nearly 23 percent yesterday. It regained some ground today.

What you just saw was the demolition of part of the Old Memorial Bridge, which connects the city of Radford to Pulaski County.
The 52-year-old bridge is being replaced by two new bridges--the first of which is already in use.
Officials say both bridges will have three lanes, unlike the old one which only had two--allowing more traffic to pass through easier and quicker.
