The accident happened around 3:30 this afternoon on Route 2-20, near Boones Mill.

State Police say the driver of a Bronco lost control in the southbound lanes, crossed over the median and into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was then struck by a tractor-trailer in the northbound lanes. Police say the driver of the Bronco, 25 year old Jason Michael Turner of Rocky Mount, and his passenger, 27 year old Jackie Wray of Rocky Mount, were wearing their seat belts. Both are listed in stable condition at Roanoke Memorial. The driver of the tractor trailer, Earnell Christian Junior of Trinity, North Carolina was also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The southbound lanes of 2-20 were closed for nearly four hours. Police say charges are pending.

A single-vehicle accident in Montgomery County has claimed the life of a local man. The crash happened shortly after midnight on Route 612. State Police say 29 year old Brannon Scott (SLUH-shur) Sluscher of Pilot was driving his Ford Ranger when he ran off the right side of the road and overturned. Police say Sluscher was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The group has an impressive repertoire... and Bogsrud is responsible for more than 200 of the arrangements.
As a young man he played with bandleaders Claude Thornhill and Orrin Tucker before pursuing a music degree and a career in music education.

A most unusual case continues to baffle police in Martinsville.

Two weeks ago, someone stole the fiberglass dinosaur called (DY-no) Dino McSporran.
The dinosaur was painted red plaid and was located on Bridge Street in Uptown Martinsville.
The Piedmont Arts Association, which sponsors the dinos parade exhibit, believes it took two people to remove the dinosaur because it was bolted to the sidewalk.
The Association is offering a 200 dollar reward for the dinosaur's safe return.

Two weeks ago, Jamie McMurray was just another Busch Series driver trying to make a name for himself. He already knew that he'd move up to Winston Cup to be Sterling Marlin's teammate next season, but that timetable got pushed up when Marlin suffered a broken vertebrae in his neck as a result of a crash at Kansas City. Today, the 26 year old McMurray made just his second Cup start in Marlin's car.

Jamie McMurray had a dominant car most of the day. He held off Bobby Labonte over the final few laps to claim his first career victory, an improbable one that not even he expected.
