Local investigators made the long trip back from Canada this weekend...

They've spent the last few days there hoping to interview a potential witness in the Short family murder case.
On Friday, Canadian Immigration officials ordered Gary Bowman deported back to the U.S.
That decision prompted local investigators to hold off interviewing Bowman in Canada.
They're now waiting for Bowman to return to the U-S.

Some say it's a major step in the right direction.
Sunday afternoon, Salem's first section of the Roanoke River Greenway officially opened to the public.

This section in Salem is about a half mile long and runs along the Roanoke River behind the Moyer Sports Complex.

Roanoke City has completed a section of the Greenway in Smith Park.
Last month, Congressman Bob Goodlatte announced Roanoke's remaining section will be constructed as part of a flood reduction project.
Supporters hope to have the entire Greenway completed by 2010.

Three people are hospitalized following an accident on Route 220 near Boones Mill...

State Police say the driver of a Bronco lost control in the southbound lanes, crossed over the median and into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was then struck by a tractor-trailer in the northbound lanes. Police say the driver of the Bronco, 25 year old Jason Michael Turner of Rocky Mount, and his passenger, 27 year old Jackie Wray of Rocky Mount, were wearing their seat belts. Both are listed in stable condition at Roanoke Memorial. The driver of the tractor trailer, Earnell Christian Junior of Trinity, North Carolina was also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The southbound lanes of 2-20 were closed for nearly four hours. Police say charges are pending.

One man is dead after an accident in Montgomery County. The crash happened shortly after midnight Sunday on Route 612. State Police say 29 year old Brannon Scott (SLUH-shur) Sluscher of Pilot was driving his Ford Ranger when he ran off the right side of the road and overturned. Police say Sluscher was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

A most unusual case continues to baffle police in Martinsville.

Two weeks ago, someone stole the fiberglass dinosaur called (DY-no) Dino McSporran.
The dinosaur was painted red plaid and was located on Bridge Street in Uptown Martinsville.
The Piedmont Arts Association, which sponsors the dinos parade exhibit, believes it took two people to remove the dinosaur because it was bolted to the sidewalk.
The Association is offering a 200 dollar reward for the dinosaur's safe return.
You're urged to call Martinsville Police if you have any information on this case.
