In a 25-minute address, Governor Warner outlined his plan for slashing 858-million dollars from the state's budget.
He announced that 18-hundred state employees will be getting pink slips.

It's a predicament facing colleges and universities across the state--as they struggle with decreased funding.. According to the Governor-- unless tuition goes UP the state's colleges and universities could lose as many as 45- hundred employees. At Virginia Tech-- the school is considering raising tuition either mid-term or next year in hopes of saving as many as 300 jobs.

A Roanoke County woman may be the first HUMAN in our region to contract the West Nile Virus.
Health officials say the 35 year old woman lived in or near Vinton. She is recovering at home at this time.

Virginia high school football has been dissrupted by the Sniper attack last. Today, Prince William County officials postponed five game because of safety concerns. Two weeks of the football season has been postponed. The 8 schools in that area have not played games and they are not even allowed to practice.
