Good Afternoon, I'm Kimberly McBroom.
As the manhunt for the serial sniper continues, conflicting witness accounts may have led investigators to a dead end.
But authorities are hoping video cameras and military surveillance planes will be able to see what human eyes have missed.
Meanwhile, businesses in and around the nation's capital are beginning to feel the effects of the sniper.
Many area residents are staying home-- while would- be visitors to Washington are changing their travel plans.
Teri Okita is in Rockville, Maryland this afternoon with an update.

NAT SOT PENNANT WINNING HIT

ANNCR: "THE GIANTS ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES"
Even Barry Bonds dropped his customary reserve this week when the Giants won the National League pennant.
For Bonds and many Giants this will be their first World Series. San Francisco fans, who waited 13 years to see their Giants have a crack at being the world champions, wasted little time before lining up at the park to buy world series tickets.
STANDUP BUT ALL THIS WORLD SERIES EXCITEMENT HASN'T DONE ANYTHING TO MAKE TWO SAN FRANCISCO FANS FORGET ABOUT SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED HERE MORE THAN A YEAR AGO. TODAY THOSE TWO FANS WON'T BE AT THE BALLPARK.THEY'LL BE AT THE COURTHOUSE.
LANE HAYASHI, CLAIMS BALL "I FEEL VERY CONFIDENT THAT I'M GONNA WIN THIS CASE."
ALEX POPOV, ALSO CLAIMS BALL "I'M STILL INTERESTED IN TALKING ABOUT SETTLEMENT BUT MY HOPES ARE PROBABLY NOT AS HIGH AS THEY WERE A YEAR AGO."
Alex Popov and Lane Hayashi both believe they are the rightful owners of a baseball that could be worth more than a million dollars.
It is the ball Barrie Bonds smashed into the stands last Octoberhis record setting 73rd homer of the season.
One glove belonging to Alex Popov rose above the crowd and seemed to catch the historic ball. But then the ball disappeared into a tumble of fansuntil Lane Hayashi emerged gripping it triumphantly.
ALEX POPOV I WAS BASICALLY MUGGED. SO THE BALL WAS FORCIBLY REMOVED FROM MY POSSESSION-
LANE HAYASHI "I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE AT THE BOTTOM OF THAT PILE AND THE BALL WAS RIGHT THERE."
In a case that could last for weeks Judge Kevin McCarthy will make the final calland at the end the ball could be worth even more.
LOU COSTANZO, SPORTS MEMORABILIA EXPERT "CONTROVERSY ALWAYS SEEMS TO ADD VALUE TO ITEMS SUCH AS THIS."
If expert opinion is required in court plenty of baseball fans are ready to speak up.
LISA LOPEZ, FAN "I THINK THE PERSON THAT GOT THE BALL FINALLY SHOULD JUST KEEP THE BALL . THAT'S HOW THE GAME GOES."
JAMES TAYLOR, FAN "WHOEVER TOUCHED IT FIRST OUGHT TO GET IT. AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE." NODDING GUY: "THE GUY WHO CAUGHT IT TAYLOR: "YEAH, THE GUY WHO CAUGHT IT.
