The youth director of a Bedford County church is in jail, charged with taking indecent liberties with a young girl he met through the church.

On Friday, police charged DeLong with six felonies including carnal knowledge of a juvenile girl he'd gotten to know through the church's youth group.
His arrest and the charges have left the small congregation stunned.

Authorities say church officials have been extremely cooperative in the investigation, including the seizure of a church computer that police say may have graphic images on it.
The charges stem from two alleged offenses a week apart in September.. one in a car and one at the church itself.. but that, authorities say, is the extent of Flint Hill's involvement.

Amherst County authorities have three people in custody, charged in connection with the shooting death of a Lynchburg man early this morning.

A short time later, Nelson County deputies stopped a car near Lovingston and detained several suspects.
22-year-old Terrence Leman (LEE-man) Durden is facing murder charges.. 22-year-old Brendan Draper Reid is accused of being an accessory after the fact.. and a 17-year-old faces firearms charges.

Bowman is still in Yellowknife, Canada, awaiting deportation to the U-S.
Investigators in the murders of Jennifer Short and her parents hope he has information that can help them.
Bowman says he has nothing to hide and will cooperate.
Investigators from the F-B-I, Virginia and North Carolina plan to pick him up at a U-S airport sometime this week.
They're keeping a tight lid on when and where.
They also plan to travel to Inuvik (in-OO-vik), Canada, to retrieve and search Bowman's van.

After two surgecal operations, the 37-year-old man shot Saturday night was upgraded today to critical but stable condition.
Doctors at M-C-V hospital removed his spleen, half of his pancreas and two-thirds of his stomach.
Still, they say the prognosis for him leading a normal life is good.

Instead of the required 30- hours, Roanoke drivers average 60- hours of training. Suggs averaged nine and a half yards a carry and picked a most opportune time to have a career best game. Charley Casserly, the executive vice president and general manager of the NFL's Houston Texans came all the way to Blacksburg this past Saturday to get an eyeful of the three-time Friday Football Extra player of the week. ((CHARLEY CASSERLY:)) Suggs is an obvious talent, but in his 23 years with the Redskins and now with the Texans, Casserly has always been known as a man who could find the diamond in the rough prospect and make him an NFL contributor and many times a star. They say if Tech wins every game on its schedule and then loses to Miami - they do NOT believe the Hokies will be left out of the BCS equation as they were in 2000 - when Notre Dame forced them to the Gator Bowl. The two men who were taken into custody this morning in Richmond were apparently in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Tonight authorities are saying they were apparently not involved in the sniper attacks.
