The man authorities want to question in the Short family murder case is being held in Virginia.

Garrison Bowman is in custody at the Danville City jail.
He's being held by the F-B-I as a material witness in the slayings of Jennifer Short and her parents.
Bowman was flown from Canada to Raleigh, North Carolina- where Investigators spoke with him for several hours. They say he was cooperative and is NOT a suspect.
Bowman had a detention hearing in Raleigh federal court this morning before being transferred to Danville.

A Drug Enforcement Agent on trial for murder in Roanoke says he fired his gun only in self-defense.

Timothy Workman's attorney told the jury today that it was the first time Workman had ever drawn his weapon and shot anyone. A West Point graduate, Workman has been with the Drug Enforcement Administration for about five years. He and the victim, Roanoke resident Keith Bailey, had been drinking at a local restaurant bar. The prosecution says Workman quote "gave him the finger" and Bailey "rose to meet the challenge." The defense says Bailey grabbed Workman by the neck tried to get the gun away from him, and the weapon went off as they wrestled over it.

New head restraints and seat back designs may be helpful when it comes to cutting down on whiplash injuries in car crashes.

The tests simulate rear end crashes at ten miles an hour.
The older model car-- from 1995 to 1998-- is tested first.
The next video shows a later year model-- 1999 through 2002-- with active head restraints. The updated design allows both the head and torso to move as one unit during a crash.
Whiplash results when the nerves, muscles, and ligaments in the neck are suddenly jerked- usually in a rear end collision.

Jean, Emory Robinson is 97 years old... but he plans to be in Ferrum on Saturday. His walking sticks have been a favorite of the festival since the very beginning...

Robinson retired in 1970, after working for the railroad for 48 years. A magazine article sparked his interest in walking sticks soon after, and he's been making them ever since.

Made from wild cherry, maple and other woods, Robinson's thigmotropic sticks owe their distintive curl to the honeysuckle vines that wrapped around the saplings as they grew.
But each walking stick also requires many hours of close hand- work, so many that Robinson estimates he makes less than 15 cents an hour.

Good sticks are becoming harder to find, but in the last 30 years, Robinson has made more than 36- hundred... each one numbered and signed.
