The search for a sniper tonight goes from Washington -DC to Washington STATE-
F-B-I agents have converged on a rental home in Tacoma Washington with metal detectors and chain saws.
A source in Washington D-C says the agents are acting on information from the sniper task force- they are said to be seeking evidence related to ammunition.
The search has been going on for a few hours-
Also tonight word that the FBI is looking for two people- one whom trained at the Fort Lewis military base South of Tacoma.

Local schools were closed for two days after the sniper left a note in Ashland- threatening children.
Schools reopened today under tight security.
Police, teachers and parent volunteers stood guard outside the schools.
All outdoor and after-school activities have been suspended.
Some concerned parents say they think more can be done to protect their children.

The script was finished weeks before the sniper attacks began.
A network spokesman says it is one of those bizarre cases where art collides with real life.

A seven-week old baby died after an accident in Bedford this afternoon.
City police officers say the two-vehicle accident happened just before 3:30 at the intersection of Burks Hill Road and Industrial Avenue.
The baby was riding in a child safety seat in the front seat of one of the cars.
The child suffered severe injuries, and was flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where it later died.
The names of the drivers and baby are not being released until all family can be notified.
No charges have been filed at this time.

D-M-V offices in Bedford and Rocky Mount have already shut down.

The offices were supposed to close on November 15th as part of the governor's budget cutting plan.

Authorities in Moscow now say there are about 50 armed men and women - identified as Chechen rebels -- holding dozens of people against their will and demanding an end to Russia's war in Chechnya. Police say the attackers opened fire and threw a grenade when police surrounded the building. There's also reports that they have strapped explosives on themselves - and have threatened to set them off if security forces storm the building.

Early reports indicated there may be radioactive material aboard- so the plane was held- and authorities moved in.
Tonight a spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration says the only thing the search turned up was a box full of furs.
A U-S Customs agent said the agency received a report of possible radioactive material on board the (Aero-flaht) Aeroflot plane.
The spokeswoman for Customs says one person was detained for questioning.

A warrant unsealed-- explains why investigators are eager to talk with him about the little girl and the murder of her parents. According to the warrant-- Bowman's landlord told investigators Bowman had threaten to kill a Virginia man who refused to move his mobile home. Bowman's landlord also told investigators-- when he visited Bowman at his home the day the Shorts were murdered-- Bowman acted unusually aggressive and confronted him with a handgun. ))

A trial for a man already convicted of murder will stay in Montgomery County... at least, for now.

A circuit court judge said he will wait until jury selection, before moving Livingston "Bud" Pritchett's trial.
Pritchett was convicted in 19-99 for the shooting death of Estel (ES-tul) Singleton, but was given a new trial because the jury wasn't aware of the extent of his mental retardation.
Pritchett's attorneys believe he would not get a fair trial a second time because of the publicity.
His new trial is set for November 12th.

Just before one, the suspect walked into this B-B-and-T branch on Timberlake Road, told the teller he had a gun and demanded money.
The suspect fled out a back door on foot, but a subsequent search of the neighborhood failed to locate him.
This is a bank photograph of him.. he's a white male, about 30 years old, 5-feet-10 inches tall and 180 pounds.

The new V-N series will be produced at the Dublin location and help secure jobs for its 16-hundred employees. The truck is equipped with an engine that meets newly mandated diesel emission standards. Officials say the standards may mean a loss of fuel economy for truckers but that Volvo's new truck will curb that loss because of its weight and aerodynamic design. Volvo is the only trucking manufacturer building a new truck with the modern engine and officials say because of that - their order board is full through the end of the year.

Roberto Lifsitz spent his weekend trapped in a bank vault - with no food, water, or communication. On Friday, he went to the bank to take some valuables out of his safety deposit box. But he nor his valuables made it out. The 60-year-old was discovered on Monday - when the bank re-opened. Lifsitz said the only source of light in the vault was the display on his cell phone but he was unable to call for help because the signal was inactive inside the vault. Police say other than being dehydrated - he was okay.

The game time for the Hokies battle with Pittsburgh on November 2nd has been moved. Monday it was set for 7pm - yesterday it was moved back to a 7:30 kick-off.

There are more injury problems for the Hokies. Third string tailback Mike Imoh sprained his right ankle during a passing drill yesterday. He is out for the Temple game on Saturday. As is defensive lineman Jimmy E. Williams. He reinjured the his left ankle yesterday and suffered knee sprain. He too is out for Temple.

The web site attacks the Vols head coach even though he has the best winning percentage of any active coach in college football. Fulmer has won 88 games and lost just 20 in his 10 years with the Vols. One of his coaches, Shane Beamer, talked to us about the nasty atmosphere in Knoxville this past weekend.

Last night he says he appreciates the honor, but his family won't be around to watch him play. Matthews is moving his wife and two daughters back to their home in Florida because of the Sniper Attacks in the DC Metro area. He says they likely won't be back until the Holidays.
