If you've always wanted that pearly white smile, no need to spend weeks with "at home" bleaching treatments.
There is a technique that only takes minutes in the dentist office.
[ANCHOR=JEAN 2 shot]
Health Check Reporter Joy Sutton joins us with details.
[ANCHOR=Joy 2 shot]
It's called zoom bleaching.
And you can go six to 12 shades lighter in an hour.
[IN Q=It's only natural that as we age]
[SUPER=01-Dr. Richard Smith/Hunting Hills Family Dentistry;11]
[OUT Q=just that, white]
It's only natural that as we age our teeth get darker, and that pearly white smile seems to fade.
That's why some people are trying a technique known as zoom bleaching to brighten things up again.
(///// SOT /////)
[IN Q=It takes about an hour bleeching time]
((IT TAKES ABOUT AN HOUR BLEACHING TIME. YOU DO ABOUT 3, 2O MINUTES SESSIONS, IT'S A LOT STRONGER THAN YOU BLEACH YOU TAKE HOME WITH THAT YOU TAKE HOME AND SLEEP IN AT NIGHT OR WEAR FOR A FEW HOURS A DAY))
[OUT Q=for few hours a day]
With zoom bleaching the gums and tongue are covered up, then a light activated gel containing peroxide is applied to the teeth and an ultraviolet light, much like you'd find in a tanning bed, is directed at the teeth.
(///// SOT /////)
[IN Q=No damage to the teeth only]
((NO DAMAGE TO THE TEETH THE ONLY THING IS THERE WOULD BE TEMPORARY SENSITIVITY AND THAT JUST KIND OF VARIES FROM INDIVIDUAL TO INDIVIDUAL))
[OUT Q=to individual]
You can go six to 12 shades lighter, depending on the darkness of your teeth. How long it last depends a lot on your habits.
(///// SOT /////)
[IN Q=Tea, coffee, smoking]
((TEA, COFFEE, SMOKING THE MORE YOU DO THAT THE SHORTER IT LAST. WE DO MAKE AT HOME TRAYS YOU CAN TAKE HOME AND WE GIVE YOU A TOUCH-UP GEL, DEPENDING ON THOSE HABITS YOU MAY HAVE TO TOUCH UP, 3, 6, SOME PEOPLE MAY NEED TO TOUCH UP ONCE A YEAR))
[OUT Q=once a year]
But for some people its worth it to keep those those pearly whites just that, white.))
Zoom bleaching costs about 500 hundred dollars.
But doctor Smith says its better than over-the-counter methods which don't always leave a consistent look.
[ANCHOR=Jean/Joy 2 shot]
Just a reminder you can keep your teeth whiter by limiting tea and coffee , and particularly smoking which are known to stain.

Today, there are only a handful of craftsmen in Virginia who make an item once found in every kitchen.

Dillon says Sassafras might be his favorite, but he uses oak, cherry, maple and many other woods... anything he says except yellow pine.
Each piece of wood provides a new challenge.
