The case of a Drug Enforcement Agent charged with murder is expected to go to the jury today. Timothy Workman says he wishes he hadn't killed a man outside O'Charley's Restaurant in February.
But, he said: he didn't have a choice.

Yesterday, Workman told the jury that the man who was with Keith Bailey that night had threatened to kill him. James Bumbry had been in Bailey's car as they were all getting ready to leave the restaurant parking lot. Bumbry said something to Workman and a woman he was with, prompting Workman to give him "the finger." Workman says Bumbry jumped out of the car and said, "you don't know who I am." Yesterday evening, two women corroborated Workman's story that Bailey was choking him. The Harmon sisters also said they THOUGHT one of the other guys MIGHT have had a gun.

Early yesterday morning at the intersection of Piedmont Drive and Mount Cross Road, officials say an officer shot 25-year-old Charles Jackson Lynch the Third. He's hospitalized in critical condition. Officials say two off-duty cops stumbled upon an altercation between two groups there after finishing their shift. They were in uniforms but in an UN-marked car. Officials say when an officer tried to get control of the fight - - Lynch attempted to run him over and that's when shots were fired. State Police are still interviewing witnesses and say that so far no charges have been filed.

Bowman is in a private cell at the Roanoke City jail for now.
He'll have another detention hearing in the next few days before he faces a federal grand jury November 12th.
