Superintendent Jim Blevins says the problem is that Montvale Elementary isn't using enough water. He says as the water sits in the water lines waiting to be used-- the chlorine in it loses its effectiveness. The school plans to now flush the water lines once a week in hopes of resolving the problem. In the meantime-- students will be using bottled water.

In addition to murder charges already filed in Maryland, 41-year-old John Allen Muhammed and 17-year-old John Lee Malvo were indicted yesterday in Hanover and Spotsylvania Counties.
Hanover prosecutors also charged the two with terrorism-related counts.

He was released from prison last Spring, having maxed out his sentence under the old parole guidelines. Two weeks ago he moved to Puerto Rico, but authorities there refused to supervise a man who'd run an interstate child prostitution ring under the guise of conducting Pentecostal revivals. Now Leyva's back at the Jefferson Lodge in downtown Roanoke, having checked in Sunday. Probation and Parole chief Paul Kiser says, "there's been no discussion about putting in for another transfer."

Evidence confirms the initial belief that it began in the basement. Total damages are estimated at 500-thousand dollars. Norfolk Avenue will remain closed until all the debris is removed.
