A car accident early this morning in Carroll County - left one man dead, and two others injured.
19-year-old Timothy Travis Upchurch of Fancy Gap, was headed southbound on Interstate 77 when he apparently lost control of the car - ran off the side of the road - struck an embankment and flipped over. He died at the scene.

The two passengers in the car suffered injuries. There's no word on their conditions at this time.

More criminals will pay for their crimes thanks to Virginia's D-N-A databank.. which is the largest in the country.

Governor Mark Warner toured the state's crime lab yesterday to mark the databank's one-thousandth "cold hit."
That's when DNA from a crime scene is matched to an offender or linked to another crime.
Virginia was the first state to start DNA testing.
Its database now contains the genetic profiles of 187-thousand convicted felons... ranking second in the world, behind only Great Britain.

Steven Keith (A-dare) Adair was arrested by the Secret Service at Tech last March. Investigators said (A-dare) Adair, who is now 19, set up a false e-mail account in the name of a 14-year old in New Jersey. Adair then e-mailed the White House, threatening Bush and Cheney.

Paul Reubens - best known as Pee-Wee Herman and veteran character actor Jeffrey Jones of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" are both free on bail. Officials say Reubens is charged with a misdemeanor and if convicted could face a year in jail and a 25-hundred dollar fine. Jones is up on felony and misdemeanor charges - and could receive three years in prison and would have to register as a sex offender for life if found guilty. Reubens pleaded no contest to indecent exposure in 1991 - after which the "Pee-Wee Herman Show" was canceled and his fame faded. Jones has appeared in dozens of films.

Two single-engine planes collided about a mile west of Essex County Airport in New Jersey last night. One person is confirmed dead and another is presumed so.

Officials say the planes were in the traffic pattern to land when they collided and crashed straight down. Authorities believe both victims are the pilots of each plane. They are still conducting a grid search for other possible victims. One of the planes landed in the front yard of a small house. The home wasn't damaged and investigators say there was no fire, though it's clear that the wreckage of the plane is covered in foam. The second crash site was about a half mile away on a residential and commercial street.

Virginia Military Institute will name a retired FOUR-star General as its new superintendent. General Binford Peay (pee) is a V-M-I graduate himself, class of '62.
His son Ryan just graduated from V-M-I this year. Another son is an Army Lieutenant, also a V-M-I graduate.

General Peay (Pee) served 35 years in the Army, ending up as Commander-in-Chief of the U-S Central Command for Africa and the Middle East. Peay (Pee) succeeds Lieutenant General Josiah Bunting, who is retiring in his eighth year as Superintendent. Bunting and Peay attended V-M-I together in the early 60's. (Pee) Peay graduated the year before Bunting.
