A new study says the Star City's homeless profile hasn't changed much in the past two years... but officials say the need may be growing. The Roanoke Valley Task Force on Homelessness says the valley's typical homeless person is a 42-year-old white male. The person also calls Roanoke home, smokes, doesn't have a car, and eats three meals a day in shelters. While these results are similar to those from a 2000 survey, Roanoke's human services coordinator says the need appears to have increased this fall.

Father Steven "Randy" Rule led his last church service at Saint Andrews in Roanoke yesterday. Though cleared of recent allegations of sexual misconduct involving a high school seminary student 26 years ago, the Diocese of Richmond has re-assigned Rule to a parish in Richmond. The move is a sad one for the minister - he says he will not be a stranger to the parish he has called home for more than nine years.
