Earlier today, an accident involving a tractor trailer and a V-DOT truck blocked the lanes.
It happened near the downtown Roanoke exit. Traffic backed up for miles as vehicles were diverted off the highway onto crowded side roads. State Police say the V-Dot truck was going slow as it cleaned the road's left shoulder..
That's when the big rig "rear ended" the V-Dot truck.
The driver of the V-Dot truck complained of minor injuries.
As for the driver of the tractor trailer- he faces charges of reckless driving. It took some time for crews to clean it all up because about 50-gallons of diesel fuel spilled .. A hazmat team was on the scene and had no problems.

A new experimental cancer drug is suprising researchers in early testing.
It's designed to stop cancer by cutting off the blood supply to tumors.
Researchers say the drug shrinks tumors at a rate unprecedented for a drug so early in development.
In the first human trials- involving 23 people with terminal cancer- tumors in a quarter of the patients shrank by half or more.
The drug is so new it doesn't even have a name.
** Meanwhile early testing shows an experimental vaccine could be effective against a virus that causes cervical cancer.
The virus is known as H-P-V Type 16 and it accounts for about half of all cervical cancer.
Women who got the vaccine did not get the virus or show signs of precancerous tissue.
The finding raises the hope that someday cervical cancer will be sent into retreat in the same way as smallpox and polio.

They are competing for the Miss Prison show held at the country's only women jail.
The jury had to choose a winner from eight women inmates, who took part in the contest.
Organizers imposed a news blackout on the crimes the contestants had committed, despite persistent questions from the media.
The pageant was televised on one of Lithuania's networks.
21-year-old Krisitina was the winner of about a thousand dollars.
She is a single mother, who is half way through a four-year prison sentence.
Her eight month old daughter is in the facility with her.
The organizers say they have already received several proposals to work on setting up a "Miss Prison Europe" contest.
