Travel turned deadly for a family flying in Oklahoma tonight-

Their private plane lost an engine and crashed near the McAlester Airport.
A family of five was aboard- headed to Missouri for Thanksgiving when the pilot tried to make an emergency landing.


The pilot was apparently trying to regain altitude when the plane crashed.
The Piper P-A-34 went down less than a half mile from the airport- All five people aboard were killed.

And an accident on Florida's sunshine skyway bridge- backs up rush hour traffic there.
A motorist was killed after crossing the bridge- on the wrong side and crashing into another car.
The other driver was hurt- and is hospitalized.
The giant bridge links St. Petersburg to Manatee County.
Northbound lanes were closed for awhile tonight.

The popular allergy medicine- Claritin will soon be available without a prescription- but that means it probably won't be covered by insurance.

The government's approved over-the counter sales the after a big insurance company petitioned the Food and Drug Administration.
Claritin's maker, Schering Plough, at first fought the switch- then changed its mind because its patent is up next month - and generic versions could be made.

Investigators say D-N-A samples from John Muhammad and teenage companion John Lee Malvo don't match D-N-A left behind in the killings in Baton Rouge.

Police had said a link to the sniper suspects was unlikely -- but Muhammad's family has placed the suspects in Baton Rouge over the past year.
Muhammad and Malvo are accused of killing 13 people and wounding five -- in five states and Washington D-C.

Gary Bowman tells News-7 that his lawyer gave him a polygraph test -- and he passed it -- earlier this month.
He says he's never even met the Shorts.
Henry County Sheriff Frank Cassell says he's seen the lie detector test results... but he still wants to conduct his own polygraph examination of Bowman.
Though Bowman is no longer the focus of the case, Cassell says investigators are still interested in talking to him.

He'll serve seven days for driving drunk in Greensboro.
Bowman pled guilty to the charge Monday.

Danville has become the first city in Virginia to provide local phone service. The State Corporation Commission certified its Department of Utilities this month. The department wants to provide service in Danville and Halifax, Henry, Patrick and Pittsylvania Counties. The city will compete with local carriers and may have better rates and reach less populated areas. New legislation passed by the General Assembly this year made certification possible. Bristol will be the second city certified by the S-C-C.

In Connecticut, a fast and furious wave of deep, white snow smothered everything in sight last night. The snowstorm caused a sleigh-full of problems - shutting down schools, roads, and highways. At least 14-thousand people were left without electricity. Officials say more than 600 state trucks helped sand the roadways.
Some places saw up to ten inches of snow.

The ski trails at the Snowshoe resort opened today - almost a month earlier than last year.
The winter season is looking good for resorts across the region - Snowshoe's recieved 23 inches of natural snow already.
And the early cold temperatures have also given resorts the chance to make snow.

UVA quarterback Matt Schaub got some props today. Schaub was named the ACC's Offensive Player of the Year, and the overall Player of the Year in the League. The only other Cav to claim both awards was Tiki Barber back in 1996. Schaub has set 8 single season passing records. He has thrown 26 TD passes and has a completion percentage of nearly 70 percent. The junior from West Chester, Pennsylvania has thrown for nearly 28 hundred yards.

Redick appears focussed on running out on to the historic Cameron Indoor Stadium floor, going through warm ups, and knocking down one of his lethal jumpers, he is in awe of his surroundings. ((:)) J.J. has formed a special relationship with his head coach, who has rewarded his freshman shooting sensation by playing him an average of 25 minutes a game, the most of any of the six highly touted Duke freshman. Governor Mark Warner today accepted two bucks and other gifts from members of the Pamunkey (pah-MON-kee) and Mattaponi (MATT-uh-poh-NYE) tribes.
The tradition goes back 356 years.
A treaty signed in 1646 calls for the tribes to make an annual offering to the governor in lieu of paying taxes.
