David Tanks, Junior is hopeful Franklin County will soon regain its D-M-V office in Rocky Mount. Tanks had to travel to Roanoke for his last trip to the D-M-V where he stood in line for two hours. It's a trip Brian Lynch knows all too well.

A Turkish Airlinies flight split apart in flames and crashed just short of a fog covered runway in southeastern Turkey .
People lined up outside hoping to find out if there were survivors.
Four people did survive the crash and were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The plane was a four engine aircraft built by British Aerospace.
Several flights were cancelled last week due to poor runway conditions.

A police officer, two firefighters and a heroic stranger are being credited with saving five people from a burning house in Martinsville.
Police say Officer Robert Smith was on patrol at about 2 A-M when he noticed a house burning on Moss Street.
The people inside the house were asleep.
Smith and an unknown man who rushed to help entered the house and got four people out safely.
Martinsville firefighters Brad Bean and John Kaccor (KAY-ZER) went in and rescued another man who was overcome by smoke.
Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire... and they hope to find the brave citizen who helped so they can thank him.

A part of the fence jammed through the passenger side of the car and the bulletproof vest Terveer was wearing kept that peice of wood from impaling him, which could have caused serious injuries.
Rescue crews had to cut through the car before they could get the officer out.

Fleming would keep the home crowd hopping as Dwayne Priest drains a three to give the Colonels a seemingly safe 42-to-30 lead in the third quarter. But PH would battle back with a wicked comeback led by Melvin Smith - the senior guard crosses over and puts the Patriots on top by one with 13 seconds to play in regulation. PH would shoot for the win, but Marlon Kemp would got for the block and get whistled for the foul. It's enough to make a brother pull up his shorts. We're headed to overtime tied at 56. In the first extra period - with 35 seconds left PH is again down by 2 and off the inbounds, Dujuan Johnson's lob to Cornelius Penn goes down and sends the game to a second OT tied at 63. In the second overtime - PH is down by three points with 13 seconds to play. Johnson will get fouled with four seconds to go. He makes the first and intentionally misses the second, but

Roanoke College stepped out of the ODAC last night and traveled to Boston to play Harvard. And the boys in button downs got more than they bargained for when they scheduled this game. Josh Foster scored 22 points and Roanoke almost beats Harvard last night falling 93-to-88.

The Virginia Tech men were on the road last night in Philly playing Villanova in their Big East opener. The Hokies took Villanova to overtime, but come up short losing to the Wildcats 92 to 81.

The Titans were joined in Roanoke County by Cave Spring, Blacksburg and the powerful Christiansburg Blue Demons. Christiansburg was the only team to go unbeaten as the Blue Demons handily beat the Knights and the Indians. Cave Spring got a win over Hidden Valley while the Titans were able to beat Blacksburg. But without question the district and regional titles will again be in Christiansburg's firm grasp until further notice.

((The college arch rivals held their first meeting as teammates again Wednesday at Corn Beef and Company to begin organizing their Celebrity football camp for kids. Suggs, who has been involved in community functions like DARE graduation, and St. Clair will combine forces with former UVa star and now Baltimore Ravens linebacker Shannon Taylor and his camp that was held at Patrick Henry high school this past summer. While they are excited about the camp, both have other pressing issues right now. St. Clair is a restricted free agent and the St. Louis Rams still have his rights. ((:))
Suggs will begin working out for the NFL combine that kicks off in March in Indianapolis next week. His goals will be to lower his 40 yard dash time and to get stronger in the weight room. Lee is racking his brain this week trying to decide on an agent. Suggs has received at least 75 emails and some video presentations from potential agents and financial advisors.))
