Coworkers at Oak Hall, the graduation cap and gown plant where Thokham Kham Thepsimoung worked, remembered her as a fun, lively person and excellent worker.

Two vehicles were heading west on Orange Avenue last night, a block and a half from the Roanoke Civic Center.
A minute after midnight multiple shots were fired from a Dodge Neon into a Jeep Grand Cherokee, fatally wounding a front-seat passenger.

To dispel fears that it was merely a drive-by shooting, city police issued a statement, saying "We do not believe this was a random act of violence."
Driver Anthony Lydell Matthews pulled into a gas station to get help. Rescue workers took 26-year old Antwone Lamont Preston to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he died a short time later.

He reiterated his desire that legislators allow him to use about 6-million dollars of a national settlement with Wall Street Banks to fund the re-openings.

The National Transportation Safety Board is continuing its investigation into what caused yesterday's plane crash in Charlotte.

Both the cockpit voice recorder and the flight data recorder have been recovered. The data recorder showed the plane approached an abnormally steep angle after it took off yesterday. The plane also had maintenance work done on the elevator controls Monday in Huntington, West Virginia.
The recorder showed erratic elevator motion on each of the eight flights after that, including yesterday morning's flight from Lynchburg to Charlotte.
Roanoke native Toby Witkege (WIT-kedge) and his girlfriend had driven to Charlotte so he could catch a flight, and saw the plane take off at an abnormally steep angle.
