The blaze broke out around six tonight on Twin Mountains Drive near Vinton.
No one was home at the time.
Because there were no hydrants near the burning house, firefighters had to stretch hoses up a long hill.
Leaking water froze on the street, sending a truck that carries air bottles sliding through a yard and into an S-U-V.
Two firefighters were inside but jumped out and were not hurt. Another firefighter who tried to stop the vehicle suffered a minor injury.
V-Dot was called to help get the fire vehicles out of the neighborhood.

It will probably be several days before investigators can enter a burned-out business in Danville.
That's because the building contained a number of flammable materials.
The blaze at Paul's Automotive off Highway 58 broke out "mid afternoon" yesterday.
Firefighters say the building contained a number of flammable materials.
Some of the toxins leaked, but they managed to keep runoff from reaching a nearby creek that flows into the Dan River.
The Department of Environmental Quality plans to do more testing on the air to make sure it is safe.

After cutting the door open crews entered this building to find lots of smoke and about 50 snakes. The serpents were immediately carried outside and given oxygen... one was found dead. They were then transported to an animal hospital where they're listed in serious condition. Other animals, such as opossums and hedgehogs, were also discovered in the building, but the owner was no where to be found. Rescue personnel say they attended to the snakes as if they were humans because they're a pet to someone. (------------)
