A strong earthquake shakes Mexico City tonight.
The quake struck just about two hours ago and registered seven point six on the Richter scale and reportedly lasted more than 20 seconds.
The earthquake sent panicked residents into the streets and knocked out power to much of the city.
There is no word on damage or casualties yet.
The quake has cut telephone and power service- that's delayed getting videotape from that area.

A Martinsville man is now charged with murding a man in October.
Henry County investigators arrested 33-year old Maurice V. Wood today and charged him with second degree murder, robbery and firearms violations.
Wood is in the Henry County Jail without bond.

Saunders was shot in the head inside his Fieldale home.

A Lynchburg man suspected in a gang-related shooting last fall will have to wait two more months for his trial... while prosecutors try to figure out whether they have the right man.

21-year-old Mario Antwane Scott is charged with shooting a woman in the arm in front of her Pierce Street home September 23rd.
He was supposed to go on trial today, but the Commonwealth's Attorney says he's still waiting for D-N-A and ballistics test results.
The gun police believe was used in the crime was found just last week.
Prosecutor Cary Payne also says investigators have uncovered evidence that may indicate Scott is innocent.
A new trial date is set for March.

((The survivors of a deadly Canadian avalanche are speaking out about the snowstorm that buried them.

The avalanche killed seven skiers Monday, three of them Americans. And heavy fog delayed the rescue of the survivors ...who had to dig themselves out by hand.

On Monday two groups of back-country skiers hit the slopes above Revelstoke, British Columbia. The area gets some 60 feet of snow a year, and hundreds go in every day for some of the best skiing in the world.

But avalanches like this one are common. And when the snowstorm came crashing down the mountain, it completely buried seven of the skiers under a solid wall of snow.

When we first got out of the helicopter, we were breaking through up to our mid-thighs. But by the time we got on the avalanche path, you could walk on it just like this table. Three other skiers were partially buried, and they climbed out with no serious injuries. They also managed to uncover another skier who was only buried a few feet down. But for those trapped up to 15 feet below the snow, there was no hope.

The 39-year old great grandson of Max Faxtor jumped bail three weeks ago- and has not been seen since.

He played offensive tackle this season and did not allow a sack.

Six new athletes and coaches have been named to the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. Former Major League baseball manager Johnny Oates, J.C. Snead, winner of over 10 PGA tournaments, veteran VMI football coach Bob Thalman, Bridgewater three sport star Laura Mapp

and NFL hall of fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor have been inducted. Taylor played high school ball in Williamsburg and played 13 seasons with the Giants.

Virginia's Terry Holland will also be inducted in Portsmouth April 26th. He is the winningest basketball coach in UVa history.
