Authorities say nothing apparently provoked a man who opened fire at a Burger King restaurant in California, killing a two-year-old boy.

Police say the man was eating lunch at the restaurant yesterday, when he suddenly stood up and approached the toddler, then shot him in the head.
The toddler, Osvaldo Martinez, was taken to a nearby medical center where he later died.
Authorities say the gunman and a friend fled the restaurant after the shooting.
Police shot and killed the gunman after he allegedly pointed his weapon at them.

A grand jury is meeting behind closed doors today in Fairfax to hear evidence in the case against sniper suspect John Lee Malvo.

The closed proceedings follow last week's decision by a juvenile court judge, who ruled there's enough evidence to try the 17-year-old as an adult.
The ruling makes Malvo eligible for the death penalty.
Malvo and suspect John Allen Muhammad are accused in a string of sniper attacks in several states.
They're being tried first in Virginia in separate trials.
Muhammad faces trial in October.

They were rescued from a so-called "Tiger Truckstop" in Texas over the weekend.

Now the large felines have a more permanent place to call home at an animal refuge in Colorado.
When they were in Texas, seven tigers had served as entertainment for truck drivers who were passing through.
But their living conditions were less than ideal-- no grass, no trees and no ponds.
Animal experts at the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Conservation Center say they hope to give the mistreated animals a better life.
