Instead of scoring some drugs, they shot the man they met, Ronald Steven Clark, as he sat in his car. Both those involved in the shooting have admitted their involvement, though they each say the other one was the trigger man. Today Kip Lamont Walker accepted a plea agreement, with a pledge from the prosecutor that she won't ask for more than 25 years in prison if Walker testifies against Christopher Riley. Walker already faces 35 years in Rockbridge County for an unrelated conviction.

In Canton Massachusetts, what started out as a fairly small fire quickly grew out of control .. because nearby hydrants were frozen shut. Frustrated firefighters had to run hose lines a quarter mile down the road to hook up with a hydrant that worked. The building housed several small businesses, but it was destroyed.

((The most magical season in Cave Spring history ended with the schools first ever state championship thanks to 43 points from Redick. Since the title game J.J. has watched his school retire his number and lift his name to the rafters. Life after Redick has been a learning experience for his former teammates. While Redick and his former team are miles a part these days, they still have a great deal in common on the court. The Knights have not only been getting together on a regular basis to watch J.J. on TV, but coach Hicks has attended a few Duke practices and he has come back to Roanoke with a full note pad. Redick, who set several Virginia high school records in the state tournament has already broken Duke's record for points in a game by a freshman. His national exposure continues to grow but he always has time for an encouraging word for his Cave Spring Knights in their first season without him. ((:))

Former Auburn High stars, brothers Nick and Nate Stewart found themselves on opposite sides in this one.
Big Nate stepped outside and nailed the three for Roanoke. The Maroons opened the second half on a 19-8 run.
Nick answered for Bridgewater making the nice assist that led to an Eagles deuce.

In Blacksburg, the Tech Women battled 23rd ranked Rutgers in Big East play.
Emily Lipton got the Hokies started by finding Erin Gibson for the easy two. Gibson scored 13 points for Bonnie Henrickson and company last night.
Rutgers answered when Michelle Campbell put home the short jumper and the Lady Knights led by 6.
The Lady Hokies kept pluggin' away. Kerri Mason bombs away from long range.
