The fire ripped through a Botetourt County home early this morning, killing one man and his two young children.

Keith, until a report from the medical examiner's office, officials are not releasing the names of the victims.
But from neighbors on Catawba Road we do know that

the man and his two children were new to the area having just moved from Texas about a month ago.
The wife and mother of the victims was in Texas when the deadly fire hit, but since being told about the news, is on her way to Virginia.

Fire officials say it began around two a-m. Cold air and wind making it difficult to fight.
While neighbors reacted to the sounds and sights of the flames, calling 9-1-1, some even attempting a rescue, it was too late.

Sunday night, he was stabbed to death outside a Roanoke nail salon.

A Franklin County woman who kept her daughter in a cage will serve NO prison time.

Rosa Yopp was convicted of felony child neglect last month.
Her husband is already serving a year in prison.
In May, investigators found the Yopp's three-year-old daughter caged in the bottom of a bunk bed.
The girl and her sister are now in foster care.
The judge ordered Yopp to have NO contact with them, except under supervision.

An accident at the Roanoke Cement plant injured four workers yesterday afternoon .
A spokesman for the company that owns the Botetourt County plant says all four suffered burns.
One had burns severe enough to require treatment at the University of Virginia hospital.
The incident has not affected plant operations; it's shut down for an annual overhaul.

Although replacing the human driving instructor with a machine may be a ways away, Casali says for now, the simulator will be used for research at the University of Virginia.
