He was a gun-toting stalker intent on confronting his ex-girlfriend when deputy Frankie Betterton intervened.

That's the picture prosecutors are painting for the jury in the capital murder trial of Roy Inge Junior in Pittsylvania County. Inge is accused of killing Betterton during a traffic stop last May. Several motorists say they saw a man resembling Inge running from the deputy's car that day.

A prosecutor has cleared the Salem police officer who accidentally shot a man he was trying to arrest.
Salem Commonwealth's Attorney Fred King says Detective Michael Brightwell acted appropriately and will not face charges.

Brightwell wounded Michael Scott Peery (perry) on December 17th in a parking lot on Apperson Drive.
Police said the incident unfolded as officers were trying to make an undercover drug buy.
King said it was proper for Brightwell to draw his gun. He said Peery refused to obey the officer and tried to run.
And the prosecutor found that Brightwell's gun discharged accidentally, when Peery struck the weapon.
Brightwell has been on administrative leave since the shooting. He returned to full duty this afternoon.

The plans were picked as finalists in an international competition to redesign the site in New York.
One plan sees the foundations of democracy in the concrete walls surrounded Ground Zero.

American rock star Courtney Love is arrested in London.

British police arrested Love after she arrived on a trans-Atlantic flight at London's Heathrow Airport.
According to an airline spokesman, Love, lead singer of the band Hole, verbally abused the cabin crew during the flight.
The plane's captain called police while in the air and they met the flight when it arrived.
After about twenty minutes Love was escorted across the tarmac and put into a police van.
Love was married to Nirvana front-man, Kurt Cobain.

Today Tech got word that Xavier Adibi will follow his brother Nathaniel to Blacksburg. Adibi picked the Hokies over Tennessee. Also, the Hokies and Virginia both lost out on Chase Anastasio from Robinson high school. He picked Notre Dame over the Hoos and Hokies this afternoon. Tomorrow morning both Tech and Virginia will be anxiously waiting to hear from Bethel high school's Chris Ellis. The six-four, 240 pounder will pick between the two tomorrow morning at 7:30.
