A Martinsville man will spend 30-years in prison for stabbing his girlfriend and then throwing her out a window.

Donatus Hilton pled guilty to first degree murder as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.
Authorities charge that Hilton broke into Janice Payne's apartment on June 24th, stabbed her near the heart and then threw her body out of a third story window.
Martinsville Commonwealth's Attorney Joan Ziglar says the victim's family agreed to the plea to avoid reliving the case at trial.

Failing to buckle up will remain a secondary offense in Virginia.
The House of Delegates reversed itself today and killed a bill to toughen the state's seat belt law.

And it was by a single vote today that the measure was defeated after opponents brought it back up for consideration.
Delegate Ken Melvin told his colleagues that the measure would give some police officers an excuse to stop and harass black drivers.

The first Cloned Sheep, Dolly, has died- at six years old.

But it was not from natural causes.
Scientists euthanized Dolly after she developed an infection that causes a slow progressive illness- it's an infection other sheep on the farm have had.
The team leader says Dolly probably caught the infection from one of the other sheep.
He doesn't think Dolly's life was short because she was a clone.
Port mortem testing should reveal more information on that.
Dolly lived six years. The average lifespan of the same breed is eleven or 12 years.

Earl Scruggs received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Scruggs is best known for writing the theme from the "Beverly Hillbillies".
But he also pioneered the 5-string banjo style.
