In a little less than two weeks, students around the state are scheduled to take a portion of the standards of learning exam.
But with so much "time off" because of snow-- the state is considering delaying the test by a week or more.

Jean, students in 5th, 8th and 11th grade are scheduled to take the writing exam beginning March 3rd-- but the state is concerned that students may not do as well because of so many snow days.

Today-- state education officials were in contact with school systems around the state including Roanoke County which has accumulated eleven snow days this year.
David Wymer is the county's associate director of testing and re-mediation and spoke to education officals by phone several times.
He says the state is considering several ways to handle the situation.

The city of Roanoke has replenished its supplies of salt twice this week alone, and officials predict they'll need more before the threat of snow has passed.

That something turned out to be nothing more than a bottle of cologne.
When security officials were checking a Saudi Arabian student, they noticed a bottle in his bag.
When they asked him what it was... he took out the bottle and sprayed it into the air.
That set things off...
The security guards were taken to a nearby hospital and the emergency room was quarantined.
Passengers waited hours until the mess was sorted out.
Once it was determined it was only cologne, the student was reunited with his family, and flight operations resumed.

Iran's state run television says the Russian made plane went down today in the Mountains of Southeastern Iran.

State television is not offering any possible reason for the crash.
There was heavy snowfall in the area where the plane went down.

Phillip Conner pled guilty to 23-charges of carnal knowledge, taking indecent liberties and aggravated sexual battery.
Prosecutors say the 41-year-old abused six boys over a 13-year period.

A judge will determine next week if he should remain in jail until sentencing which is scheduled for April.

Officials say the center began losing business after the city built a new parks and recreation center, which offers many of the same services for free.
Although Carilion is a non-profit organization, officials say some its subsidiaries are NOT.
Nearly 50-workers will lose their jobs.
Officials say the facility will donate most of its equipment to the parks and recreation center.

Johnny Paycheck was known as a hard drinking singer who was a lifeline for real people who worked real jobs.
Singer George Jones who knew paycheck for more than 50 years says the world will miss a great country singer and he said he will miss his friend.
Paycheck had bedridden in a nursing home with emphysema and asthma.
He was 64 years old.

The Spartans would hardly lay down for the Mountaineers. Ben Motley makes the pass to A.J. Dowell, he spots up and hits the short jumper for Salem.
Alleghany's Chance Dobbs saves the rock, gives to Randall Allen, who dishes back to Dobbs and he buries the trey from the corner.

Senior Katrina Williams simply dominated the game as she takes Schafer's pass and drops in two of her game high 24.

Green was honored for his years with the Redskins - but mostly he was honored for his work with the Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation.
The assembly named a stretch of Route 28 in Loudoun County Darrell Green Boulevard yesterday afternoon.
