A Blacksburg man rescued from Roanoke River yesterday has died from hypothermia.

Carilion Hospital officials confirmed this morning that Brian Quesenberry passed away at New River Valley Medical Center.
Brian and his father Stewart Quesenberry were caught in the river's high waters near Elliston, in Montgomery County, for several hours before rescuers could reach them.
Initial word was that both were hospitalized in serious condition, but we learned this morning that Brian Quesenberry died late last night, less than five hours after he was pulled from the water.

Flood waters have also claimed the life of a Vinton man.
This morning-- searchers recovered a pickup truck that was swept into Tinker Creek last night.
The body of a man was found inside-- but police are not yet releasing his name pending notification of family.
The red Toyota pickup was found about 100 feet from the spot where it was last seen going under near 5th and Walnut streets.

Residents of the Salem complex were evacuated Saturday afternoon in anticipation of the flood waters.
The property manager says every ground floor unit in the complex of 3-hundred was hit, some more severely than others.

Roanoke City's main water supply is on the brink of being at full pond.

This morning's measurement of Carvins Cove put the water level less than a foot below full pond, at 98-percent capacity.
Tomorrow's reading is expected to show Carvins Cove at maximum capacity.
A little more than one year ago, the cove hit 22 feet below the spillway, sparking mandatory water restrictions for city residents that lasted throughout the spring, summer and fall.

An energy company has pulled the plug for now on a proposed power plant in Pittsylvania County.

Florida Power and Light wanted to build a natural gas-fired power plant between Danville and Chatham.
The White Oak Energy Center would have been located on 128 acres of land off Dry Fork Road near the county landfill.
A spokesman for F-P-L says it has scrapped plans for the project because of a lack of need for natural gas.
The company says it may reconsider that decision if the market changes.

But back in December, a review of V-DOT finances showed a 272-million dollar shortfall between what the state had planned to spend improving Route 58, and how much is needed.

Dave Blaney started on the pole for the first time in his career today at the Rock.

Later Jeff Gordon tangled with Junior, and this time, the 24 got the worst of it. Gordon did manage to keep his car off the wall, but he settled for a 15th place finish.
Kurt Busch led 150 of 393 laps, but the youngster got taken to school by Dale Jarrett over the final few circuits. D-J made the final pass with just five to go and hung on to claim his 31st career victory, his second at Rockingham.

The Roanoke Dazzle was supposed to square off with first place Fayetteville on Monday, but Mother Nature had other plans, so the two met this afternoon at the Civic Center.

Mikki Moore had the corn rows looking good today as he greets Kent Davison with the high five.
The hair didn't help Moore on this jumper, but Cory Alexander bailed out his buddy by scooping up the loose ball and putting in the stickback for two of his 21 points.
A little later, Moore does do some damage. He backs in, gives a little pump fake and then gets the hoop and the harm.
