A tractor trailer accident has shut down part of Interstate 77 north of Wytheville. It happened around 6:30 this morning near mile post 43. A trailer owned by Southern Explosives of North Carolina overturned, spilling diesel fuel and ammonium nitrate. Both Southbound and Northbound lanes are closed for about 21 miles around the accident.
Motorists in the area should expect delays and watch for detour signs. It will take several hours to clean up the spill.
The driver of the truck was taken to the Wythe County hospital with minor injuries.

Confirmation of their identities came after the recent arrest of top al-Qaida operative Khalid Shaikh Mohammed.
A Pakistani official says Mohammed told investigators that terrorist leader Osama bin Laden is still alive, is in good health, and is living in the border region of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Mohammed is believed to have been the one who actually masterminded the 9-11 attacks.

An arrest today in England in the death of a Northern Virginia woman--
27- year- old Margaret Muller of Falls Church was stabbed to death while jogging in a London's Victoria Park last month.
Muller was found by other joggers and cyclists who heard her screaming. Scotland Yard made the arrest a few days after staging its biggest crime- scene reconstruction in history.
Authorities, meanwhile, have not yet named the 18- year- old murder suspect.
Margaret Muller had moved to Britain in 19-98, where she studied and taught fine arts.
The focus of Robert Blake's preliminary hearing is now on the police and a crime writer who accompanied them in their investigation.

He wanted to be a "Millionaire", but it may cost him his reputation.
A jury in London is hearing the case of an Army major, who allegedly cheated his way to the top prize on the British version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"
Major Charles Ingram won 1-point-six- million dollars.
But the episode never aired, and his check was withheld.
Prosecutors say Ingram's friend, who was in the studio audience, coughed repeatedly during the taping.
They believe the man was trying to help Ingram answer the questions correctly.
Ingram's wife was also allegedly involved in the plot.
The couple had appeared on the show before.
She won, but he'd never made it past a qualifying round.

The U-V-A Cavaliers wanted to end their losing streak last night.
But that's not what they got.
After last night's 90-to-73 loss to Georgia Tech, Virginia will now head into this weekend's A-C-C tournament with seven straight losses.
Travis Watson came back from a four game disciplinary suspension to lead U-V-A with 24 points, but it was not enough.
Things were not much better for Virginia Tech.
The Hokies lost to Miami at home 79-to-71,
The two teams are tied for sixth place in the East Division of the Big East.
So the Hokies MUST win at West Virginia on Saturday to make it into the tournament.
But a Hurricanes win over Saint John's on Saturday would send Miami to the tourney, no
matter what Tech does.
