The mobile home was already engulfed when firefighters got there.

At Virginia Tech, more than 27-hundred international students withstood long lines yesterday to renew their I-20 forms to comply with new security measures.
Beginning August First, any person in the U.S. on a student visa must now have a variety of information entered into a new computer database including name, date of birth, and address here and abroad.

The French recently purchased a six year old prize- winning stallion from Sally and Roddy Moore in Ferrum. The Percheron (Purch-eron) named "Cruiser" was selected from among 14 other horses in the U-S and Canada for use in breeding. In France, the horses have long been used for farm work but the French are hoping the qualities of the American Percheron will help their draft horses succeed in another line of work.

The DMV office in Rocky Mount is officially back in business.

There were short lines, plenty of empty seats and lots of smiles as customers returned to the site that was shut down by budget cuts five months ago.
All six workers are back on the job.
The Rocky Mount branch is one of the last three offices that reopened yesterday.
Public outcry prompted lawmakers to bring them back.
Many customers said they waited until the branch reopened to do their business ... rather than brave long lines elsewhere.
