One of the three defendants accused in an apparent murder for hire in Pittsylvania County has pled guilty.

Rodney Fuller of Danville has entered into a plea agreement that will spare him his life.
In return, he reportedly has agreed to testify against Teresa Lewis and Matthew Shallenberger.

All three are charged with the October murders of Julian Lewis Jr. and his 25-year old son Charles at their Keeling home.
Lewis' wife Teresa allegedly hired Fuller and Shallenberger to kill her husband so she could collect insurance money.

In Memphis, Tennessee, several hundred people marched more than a mile to Mason Temple to remember.
King gave his now famous "I have been to the Mountaintop" speech at the temple the night before he was killed.
King was in Memphis to lead a garbage workers' strike when he was shot April fourth, 1968 on the balcony of the former Lorraine Motel.
The hotel is now home to a National Civil Rights Museum.

An Associated Press report says many African American freshmen at Virginia Tech would have had difficulty getting admission without the school's affirmative action program.

Of 333 students who listed their race as black last year, 295 submitted S-A-T scores below the school's average for incoming freshmen.
Black freshmen scored an average of 1038. That is well ABOVE the national mark of 857 for college-bound African-Americans, but it is 153 points BELOW Tech's class average of 11 hundred-91.
They also listed a combined high school grade-point average of 3-point-29, compared to a freshman average of 3-point-6.

The Roanoke Express will try and rebound from last nights 7-2 loss to the Greensboro Generals in game one of their ECHL playoffs tonight with game two at the Greensboro Coliseum.

The Express defense did play strong in the first period only giving up this Rod Audott goal at the 2:18 mark. But the Generals would explode in the second for five goals in the period. Matt Turek gets the run started at the 5:28 mark with the shot that beats Evan Lindsey. Jay Murphy makes the count 3-to-nothing Generals halfway through the second with this tally. The Express finally scored with Chad Mazurak capitalizing on a second chance to cut it to 3-to-1 in the second.
