A Vinton Native and V-M-I Graduate is now an Air Force General playing a major role in the war.
Brigadier General Daniel Darnell spoke with News 7 on the phone from his base in Southwest Asia.

Today when Saddam Hussein's statue was toppled in the Iraqi streets- General Darnell was watching the footage on TV.

((Rick Kowalsky played with a fractured right leg Tuesday night. It will break Express fans hearts if veterans like Killer and 30 year old center Mike Peron don't return to Roanoke next season. ((:)) ((:)) The voluntary suspensions of ECHL teams in Richmond and Lexington because of financial debt is a problem that could hit other ECHL teams. The Generals or the Express and several other ECHL teams will lose money this season because of sagging attendance and rising costs. ((:)) ((STEVE MASON:)) ((:))
Two positive, the ECHL will negotiate a new collective bargaining agreement this off season and there will be a new divisional alignment for Roanoke and Greensboro. ((:))
