It's the first admission by an Iraqi official that the coalition troops have overwhelmed Iraqi forces.

Earlier today, U-S Marines and Iraqi citizens toppled a huge statue of Saddam Hussein.
Jubilant residents then dragged the pieces through the streets of the Iraqi capitol.
President Bush isn't ready to declare victory.
His spokesman says Bush is still ''very cautious'' because he knows there could still be ''great danger'' ahead.

Hussain Alsaady and his friends were jubilant, as they watched allied troops roll into central Baghdad, and Iraqui citizens celebrate the apparent end of Saddam Hussein's regime.
These men who have made Roanoke their home, haven't seen their homeland for more than a decade, but they believe their wait will soon be over.

Virginia Tech's Corps of Cadets is honoring one of its own, killed in Iraq.

The Corps held a wreath-laying ceremony today for Second Lieutenant Jeffrey J. Kaylor, who was killed Monday in a grenade attack.
Kaylor transferred from Radford University to Virginia Tech in 19-98 and graduated in 2001.
The 24-year-old's name will be added to the university's war memorial, reserved strictly for servicemen and women who died in active war conflict.
A memorial vigil will also be held at midnight.

Phil Rogers was one of Kaylor's closest friends.
They entered the Corps of Cadets together in 19-98, and then later rushed the same fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha.
Rogers says when the two of them met, they immediately clicked.

A Danville family is praying for the safe return of a loved one serving in Iraq.
The Department of Defense says the whereabouts of Major William Watkins and another airman is unknown.
Watkins has NOT been officially designated as missing in action.

In his official proclamation, President Bush said the Americans captured during the war with Iraq follow in the footsteps of those "who placed country above self."

None of the 15 suspects is from this area. They're mostly Armenians... one who boasted of connections in the Russian mafia.
